Potions:
- Large potion bottle with wave of paper boats to represent the porter’s continual making of boats/ the wall of boats; sealed with gold wax and thistle symbol.
- Porter and BW: rosemary for remembrance; sage for clarity; marigold for grief; vervain for trying to escape an evil influence; rose for passion and intensity; lilac for being manipulated; jasmine for sensuality and bewitching; lipstick for Porter 1:1, red string for being connected by an outside force; red ribbon saying “I pray you, remember the Porter;” sealed with gold wax and ballroom symbol.
- The Lobby: black salt for perversion of the natural order, and for being under a curse; thorns for being trapped in a cycle of violence; mugwort for seeing/walking between worlds; lavender for distrust; rue for regret; anise for fighting against an omnipotent force; comfrey for protection for someone on a journey/quest (Lady Macduff and Agnes); juniper for a safe space, hideout,respite (Porter’s office); topped with small glass cloche containing telephone, ring and letter, on top of burgundy fabric representing the Porter’s jacket.
- The forest maze: Black ink for the darkness of the forest; statice flowers and ferns painted gold to represent the lighting in the maze; gold ring adhered to inside of bottle with resin to represent Hecate’s 1:1 and being trapped in the quest for the ring; outside of the bottle engraved with “Find my ring” and “I know you know where it is;” sealed with gold wax and thistle stamp.
- Melancholy: heather for loneliness and solitude; skullcap for melancholy/sorrow and sharing emotion with the audience; bluebell for demonstrating truth without speaking, emotional honesty and connection; purple rose for sincerity; chrysanthemum for sadness, foreseeing doom; bleeding heart for heartbreak, lost or unrequited love; sealed with gold wax and crescent moon stamp.
- Hecate: locket with bloody heart inside to represent Hecate’s hold over the Porter and other residents of the hotel (also a reference to the prelude to her lipsync scene); Sealed with gold wax and key stamp.
- Glass bottle with resin “tears” (seen below).
- Glass cloche with salt pile and crossed forks representing the salt piles in the Lobby (seen below).

- Resin Crystal containing microphone and quotes “One day he went away, and I thought I’d die” and “Is that all there is?”

- Organza Sachet: contains mini antique lipstick tube, brass Porter ring, mini teacups, small brass coin stamped with “No more tears,” and a thistle
- Wood round box with brass P: containing a stack of papers connected by red thread and topped with a brass key, representing both the Porter’s notes (the hand drawing, the address he gives to Agnes) and the board of articles on the office walls/ the Vanishing Boy clippings. Lined with burgundy fabric on the bottom again for Porter’s jacket (seen below).
